Born and raised in Santa Cruz, Manila, she attained popularity after winning the Star for a Night singing competition on television in 2003. Geronimo substantiated the fame with the release of her first album in the same year titled Popstar: A Dream Come True, when it became the best-selling debut album of all-time in the country. Following the success of the record, she staged her first major solo concert at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. At the age of 17, the singer became the youngest solo artist to have filled the well-renowned venue.
