I will not stop working, Anna Wintour tells King
On February 4, 2025, Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Dame Anna Wintour, was honoured by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, receiving the Companion of Honour for her significant contributions to fashion. During the ceremony, King Charles inquired if this accolade signalled her retirement plans, to which Wintour responded firmly, “No.”
Notably, Wintour attended the event wearing an amethyst necklace with royal history, originally belonging to Queen Mary, King Charles’ grandmother. This piece was part of a parure gifted to Queen Mary by Princess Catherine of Württemberg and was later acquired by Wintour.
The Order of the Companions of Honour is a prestigious award limited to 65 members, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts, science, medicine, or government. Other notable members include Sir Elton John and Dame Judi Dench.
